Conference Overview

Advice is one of the core priorities for the FCA with FAMR, the flagship policy to reform advice, launched last year. Four bodies were tasked with delivering the 28 FAMR recommendations: the FCA, HM Treasury, the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Financial Advice Working Group.

One year on from the FAMR, the Advice Market faces new developments and challenges: the Asset Management Market Study, the debate around pricing and charges, the pensions dashboard, new definitions and terms for advice and guidance, regulatory costs for firms including debate on FSCS funding, the Suitability Review, the thematic review on the treatment of long standing customers and changes to ISAs and pension allowances. All these will impact providers and advisers.

Presentations and debate will cover the new definition and terms of advice/guidance, the FCA consultation and PII and FSCS funding, new insights from the Advice Unit and Project Innovate and how a guidance proposition might work in a regulated business. Debate will also centre on how the recent FCA consultations, market studies and reviews will impact product development and advice as the industry moves towards implementing the FAMR objectives by 2019.
