Conference Overview

This year’s conference takes place against a backdrop of significant regulatory change for the market and tightening capacity as PI insurance becomes increasingly difficult to obtain and some financial advice firms exit the market. Transferring may not be suitable for most people but for some it will be and improving the availability and quality of transfer advice is necessary to meet demand, protect members and deliver good outcomes.

The industry is responding with efforts to raise standards and by exploring new ways to provide more members with access to advice, and at an affordable rate. Equally schemes are increasingly recognising the need to support DB members with their choices, offering a wider range of options backed by greater access to advice and guidance.

This conference will analyse the latest regulations, trends and market developments; provide best practice guidance and member option case studies; and ultimately, consider how capacity might be increased in such a highly regulated market. With dedicated sessions including:

  • The FCA on their latest policy thinking and supervisory work
  • Industry discussion on PS20/6, GC20/1 and PI insurance
  • Update from the Financial Ombudsman Service on complaints and claims
  • Market outlook survey on DB transfer activity
  • Case studies from schemes on member options
  • A roadmap for trustees to de-risk the transfer process
  • Best practice in transfer suitability reports
  • The “two adviser model” approach and outsourcing DB transfer advice
  • How technology can help member engagement in the DB to DC advice process
